Ingredients

Scale

For the White Cake

  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 3/4 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 egg whites
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup sour cream

Bavarian Cream Filling

  • 1 package (3.4 oz) instant vanilla pudding mix
  • 1 1/2 cups cold milk
  • 1 cup whipped topping, thawed
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Snowy Whipped Frosting

  • 1 container (8 oz) whipped topping, thawed
  • 1 package (8 oz) cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Toppings

  • White chocolate shavings
  • Powdered sugar
  • Coconut flakes (optional)

Instructions

Step 1: Bake the Cake

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line two 8-inch cake pans with parchment paper to prevent sticking.

In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt until evenly combined.

In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy. This step helps create the soft velvet texture of the cake.

Add the egg whites one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract and sour cream until smooth.

Gradually alternate adding the dry ingredients and milk, beginning and ending with the flour mixture. Mix gently until the batter becomes smooth and creamy without overmixing.

Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans and smooth the tops.

Bake for 28–32 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Allow the cakes to cool completely before assembling.

Step 2: Make the Bavarian Cream Filling

In a mixing bowl, whisk together the instant vanilla pudding mix and cold milk until thickened.

Fold in the whipped topping and vanilla extract gently to create a light and airy Bavarian-style filling.

Refrigerate for about 10 minutes so the filling firms slightly before assembling the cake.

Step 3: Make the Frosting

In a large bowl, beat the softened cream cheese until smooth and creamy.

Mix in the powdered sugar and vanilla extract until fully combined.

Gently fold in the whipped topping until the frosting becomes fluffy, smooth, and cloud-like.

Step 4: Assemble the Cake

Place one cake layer on a serving plate or cake stand.

Spread the Bavarian cream filling evenly over the top, creating a thick creamy layer.

Carefully place the second cake layer on top.

Frost the entire cake with the snowy whipped frosting, smoothing the sides and top beautifully.

Decorate generously with white chocolate shavings, powdered sugar, and coconut flakes for a snowy winter effect.

Chill the cake before serving for the best texture and flavor.

Notes

Do not overmix the cake batter once the flour is added, as this can create a dense texture instead of a light fluffy crumb. Always allow the cake layers to cool completely before adding filling and frosting to avoid melting. Chilling the cake before slicing helps create cleaner layers and improves the creamy texture.
