  • Author: twiza amys

Ingredients

Scale

For the Chicken

  • 2 pounds boneless skinless chicken breasts, cubed
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper

For the Pineapple Brown Sugar Sauce

  • 1 cup pineapple chunks
  • ½ cup pineapple juice
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1 tablespoon butter

Optional Add-Ins:

  • Red pepper flakes
  • Bell peppers
  • Green onions
  • Sesame seeds
  • Fresh ginger

Recommended Kitchenware:

  • Nonstick skillet
  • Air fryer
  • Saucepan
  • Silicone spatula
  • Meal prep containers
  • Premium cookware sets

Instructions

Step 1: Season the Chicken

Place the cubed chicken into a large bowl. Season with garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper.

Well-seasoned chicken creates a flavorful base that balances perfectly with the sweet pineapple glaze.

Using quality cooking tools and sharp kitchen knives makes preparation faster and safer.

Step 2: Cook the Chicken

Heat olive oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Add the chicken pieces and cook for 6 to 8 minutes until golden brown and fully cooked.

Avoid overcrowding the skillet to help the chicken caramelize properly.

Premium cookware sets help distribute heat evenly and improve browning.

Step 3: Prepare the Pineapple Sauce

In a saucepan, combine pineapple chunks, pineapple juice, brown sugar, soy sauce, garlic, honey, and butter.

Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer while stirring occasionally.

The sweet pineapple aroma combined with garlic creates an irresistible tropical-inspired sauce that tastes similar to restaurant takeout favorites.

Step 4: Thicken the Glaze

In a small bowl, whisk together cornstarch and water to create a slurry.

Pour the slurry into the simmering sauce and stir continuously until the glaze thickens and becomes glossy.

The sauce should coat the back of a spoon without becoming too heavy.

Step 5: Combine and Serve

Add the cooked chicken into the pineapple glaze and toss until fully coated.

Allow the chicken bites to cook for another 2 to 3 minutes so the sauce caramelizes slightly around the edges.

Serve immediately over rice or in appetizer bowls garnished with green onions and sesame seeds.

Notes

  • Chicken thighs can be substituted for extra juiciness.
  • Fresh pineapple provides brighter flavor than canned pineapple.
  • Do not overcook the sauce or it may become too thick.
  • High-quality kitchenware improves even cooking and cleanup.
  • Store leftovers in airtight meal prep containers for up to 4 days.

Many home kitchen tips recommend cooking chicken in batches for better caramelization and texture.
