Easy Peanut Butter Fudge Recipe – Creamy, Rich & No-Bake

  • Author: twiza amys

Ingredients

Scale

For the Peanut Butter Fudge:

  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 4 cups powdered sugar, sifted
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt, if using unsalted peanut butter and unsalted butter

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Pan

Line an 8-by-8-inch square baking pan with parchment paper, leaving a little extra hanging over two opposite sides. These edges will act as handles when you remove the finished fudge.

Lightly grease the parchment paper with butter or nonstick cooking spray if desired. Set the pan aside while you prepare the mixture.

Step 2: Melt the Butter and Peanut Butter

Place the butter and creamy peanut butter in a medium saucepan over low heat. Stir continuously with a silicone spatula or wooden spoon until both ingredients melt together into a smooth, creamy mixture.

Keep the heat low and avoid allowing the mixture to boil. Peanut butter can become oily or separate if overheated, so gentle melting is important for achieving the right consistency.

Once everything is completely combined, remove the saucepan from the heat.

Step 3: Add the Vanilla and Powdered Sugar

Stir the vanilla extract and salt into the warm peanut butter mixture.

Gradually add the sifted powdered sugar, about one cup at a time, stirring well after each addition. The mixture will become thicker as the sugar is incorporated.

Continue mixing until the fudge mixture is smooth, thick, and evenly combined. It should be firm enough to hold its shape but still soft enough to spread into the prepared pan.

If the mixture feels unusually dry or crumbly, make sure the powdered sugar was measured correctly before adding anything else.

Step 4: Transfer and Smooth the Fudge

Spoon the peanut butter mixture into the prepared baking pan.

Use a spatula or the back of a spoon to spread it evenly into the corners. Gently press the surface to remove large air pockets and create a smooth top.

For a pretty finish, you can sprinkle a few finely chopped peanuts over the surface while the mixture is still soft. Press them very lightly so they stick.

Step 5: Chill, Slice, and Serve

Place the pan in the refrigerator for approximately 2 hours, or until the fudge is completely firm.

Once set, lift the fudge out of the pan using the parchment paper handles. Place it on a cutting board and use a sharp knife to cut it into small squares.

For cleaner slices, warm the knife under hot water, wipe it completely dry, and cut straight down through the fudge. Repeat between cuts.

Arrange the squares on a serving plate and enjoy!

Notes

Use Low Heat: Always melt the butter and peanut butter gently. High heat can cause the fats to separate and affect the final texture.

Measure the Sugar Carefully: Too much powdered sugar can make the fudge dry and crumbly. Spoon it into the measuring cup and level it rather than packing it tightly.

Choose the Right Peanut Butter: Standard creamy peanut butter is the most reliable option for this recipe. Natural varieties can behave differently because their oil content and consistency vary.

Allow Enough Chilling Time: The fudge needs to become completely firm before cutting. If it feels soft in the center, return it to the refrigerator.

Use Parchment Paper: This makes removing the fudge much easier and helps keep the edges neat.

Cut Small Squares: Peanut butter fudge is naturally rich, so small pieces are perfect for dessert trays and sharing.
