Monster Mash Crockpot Candy – Easy Halloween White Chocolate Treat

  • Author: twiza amys

Ingredients

Scale
  • 24 ounces white chocolate melting wafers or white candy coating
  • 3 cups mini pretzel twists, broken into pieces
  • 1 cup roasted salted peanuts
  • 1 cup candy-coated chocolate pieces in Halloween colors
  • ½ cup Halloween-themed sprinkles
  • 24–30 candy eyes, optional

Optional Additions

  • 1 cup crispy rice cereal
  • ½ cup mini marshmallows
  • ½ cup chopped chocolate sandwich cookies
  • Orange, purple, or green candy melts for decoration

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Slow Cooker and Baking Sheets

Make sure the slow cooker insert is completely clean and dry. Add the white chocolate melting wafers or candy coating to the slow cooker.

Line two large baking sheets with parchment paper and set them aside. Break the pretzels into bite-sized pieces, measure the peanuts, and separate the candy-coated chocolates and sprinkles.

Preparing everything in advance makes assembly easier because the melted coating begins to firm as it cools.

Step 2: Melt the White Chocolate

Cover the slow cooker and heat the white chocolate on LOW for approximately 30–45 minutes, checking after about 20 minutes.

Stir gently with a dry, heat-resistant silicone spatula. Continue heating until the coating is mostly melted, then stir until completely smooth.

Slow cookers vary, so use the time as a guide rather than leaving the mixture unattended. Avoid HIGH heat because white chocolate can scorch or become thick and grainy when overheated.

Once smooth, switch the slow cooker to WARM if your appliance has that setting. If the coating is already fully melted and you can finish mixing promptly, you can turn the heat off.

Step 3: Add the Pretzels and Peanuts

Add the broken pretzels and roasted peanuts to the melted white chocolate.

Fold gently until the crunchy ingredients are evenly coated. Try not to crush the pretzels too much, because larger pieces give the candy its satisfying crunch.

If you want to include crispy rice cereal, fold it in at this stage. Keep a handful of pretzels aside if you would like to decorate the finished clusters with extra crunchy pieces.

Step 4: Shape the Candy Clusters

Using two spoons or a small cookie scoop, drop portions of the mixture onto the prepared baking sheets.

Make each portion into a small mound, leaving space between the clusters. You can create smaller pieces for treat bags or larger clusters for dessert platters.

While the coating is still soft, press a few Halloween-colored candy pieces onto the top of each cluster. Add candy eyes and a generous pinch of Halloween sprinkles to create a playful monster-inspired appearance.

For a more colorful finish, drizzle a little melted orange, purple, or green candy coating over the clusters.

Step 5: Let the Monster Mash Candy Set

Allow the clusters to cool at room temperature for approximately 30–60 minutes, or until the coating is completely firm.

If your kitchen is warm, place the trays in the refrigerator for about 15–25 minutes to speed up the setting process.

Once firm, carefully remove the clusters from the parchment paper and transfer them to an airtight container. Arrange them on a Halloween platter or package them in food-safe treat bags for a festive party favor.

Notes

  • Keep everything dry: Moisture can affect the texture of melted chocolate.
  • Use LOW heat: White chocolate is sensitive to overheating.
  • Stir regularly: Check the mixture early and stir gently to distribute the heat.
  • Add decorations quickly: Candy eyes and sprinkles stick best while the coating is still soft.
  • Preserve the crunch: Fold the pretzels gently instead of crushing them.
  • Prepare your trays ahead of time: This makes shaping much easier once the mixture is ready.
  • Let the candy set completely: Packing the clusters while they are soft can cause sticking and misshapen pieces.
  • Choose appropriate candy coloring: Use oil-based colors designed for chocolate rather than water-based food coloring.

A slow cooker, heat-resistant spatula, cookie scoop, and parchment paper are all the cooking tools you need. You do not need a food processor or expensive cookware sets to prepare this festive homemade cand
