- ½ cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- ½ cup brown sugar
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
🍥 For the Cream Cheese Glaze
- 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons milk
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
Optional Toppings
- Chopped pecans
- Caramel drizzle
- Powdered sugar
- Extra cinnamon
- White chocolate drizzle
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Rolls
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
Without separating the rolls individually, slice the entire package of King’s Hawaiian rolls horizontally to create a top and bottom layer.
Place the bottom half into the prepared baking dish.
Step 2: Make the Cream Cheese Filling
In a bowl, beat together:
- Softened cream cheese
- Granulated sugar
- Vanilla extract
Mix until smooth and creamy.
Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the bottom layer of the rolls.
Step 3: Add Cinnamon Sugar
In a separate bowl, combine:
- Brown sugar
- Cinnamon
Brush the cream cheese layer with melted butter.
Sprinkle the cinnamon sugar mixture evenly over the cream cheese.
This creates the classic cinnamon roll flavor.
Step 4: Assemble the Rolls
Place the top half of the rolls over the filling.
Brush the tops with remaining melted butter.
For extra flavor, sprinkle a little additional cinnamon sugar on top.
Cover loosely with foil.
Step 5: Bake and Glaze
Bake covered for 15 minutes.
Remove the foil and bake for an additional 5–10 minutes, or until golden brown.
While the rolls cool slightly, prepare the glaze by whisking together:
- Cream cheese
- Powdered sugar
- Milk
- Vanilla extract
Drizzle generously over warm rolls before serving.
Notes
- Allow cream cheese to soften fully for smooth mixing.
- Do not overbake or the rolls may dry out.
- Covering with foil keeps the rolls soft.
- Serve warm for the best texture.
- Prepare the glaze while the rolls bake.
- Store leftovers in the refrigerator because of the cream cheese.
