Ingredients

Scale

🥖 For the Danish

  • 1 package (12-count) King’s Hawaiian Sweet Rolls
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • ⅓ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

🍯 For the Butter Topping

  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon

🍰 For the Vanilla Glaze

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract

Optional Toppings

  • Fresh strawberries
  • Blueberries
  • Raspberry preserves
  • Lemon zest
  • Powdered sugar

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Baking Dish

Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).

Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.

Place the King’s Hawaiian rolls into the dish while keeping them connected.

Using a small knife, carefully cut a shallow cavity into the top of each roll.

Do not cut all the way through.

Step 2: Prepare the Cheesecake Filling

In a medium bowl, beat together:

  • Cream cheese
  • Sugar
  • Egg
  • Vanilla extract

Mix until smooth and creamy.

Transfer the filling to a piping bag or spoon.

Fill each cavity in the rolls generously.

Step 3: Prepare the Butter Topping

In a small bowl, mix:

  • Melted butter
  • Brown sugar
  • Cinnamon

Brush the mixture over the tops of the rolls.

This creates a golden, flavorful finish.

Step 4: Bake the Danish

Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until:

  • The rolls are golden brown
  • The cheesecake filling is set

Remove from the oven.

Allow to cool slightly.

Step 5: Add the Glaze

Whisk together:

  • Powdered sugar
  • Milk
  • Vanilla extract

Drizzle over the warm danish.

Add any desired toppings.

Serve warm.

Notes

  • Use room-temperature cream cheese.
  • Do not overfill the rolls.
  • Allow the danish to cool slightly before glazing.
  • Full-fat cream cheese provides the best texture.
  • Watch carefully during the final minutes of baking.
  • Serve warm for the best flavor.
