Hawaiian Guava Cake – Tropical Pink Guava Dessert Recipe

  • Author: iliass
  • Total Time: 2 hours 55 minutes (including chilling)

Description

Hawaiian Guava Cake is a light, tropical dessert bursting with sweet guava flavor and island-inspired charm. Famous throughout Hawaii, this cake is known for its soft fluffy texture, beautiful pink color, and rich layers of guava goodness topped with a creamy whipped frosting. It’s the perfect combination of fruity freshness and airy sweetness, making it ideal for birthdays, summer gatherings, luaus, and special celebrations.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Cake:

  • 1 box white cake mix
  • 1 cup guava nectar or guava juice
  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil
  • 3 large eggs
  • Pink food coloring (optional for vibrant color)

For the Guava Filling:

  • 2 cups guava nectar
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 3 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons water

For the Frosting:

  • 1 package (8 oz) cream cheese, softened
  • 1 container whipped topping (8 oz)
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

Step 1:
Preheat your oven to 175°C (350°F). Grease and flour a 9×13-inch baking pan.

Step 2:
In a large bowl, combine the cake mix, guava nectar, vegetable oil, and eggs. Beat until smooth and fully combined. Add a few drops of pink food coloring if desired.

Step 3:
Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and bake for 28–35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let the cake cool completely.

Step 4:
Prepare the guava filling by combining guava nectar and sugar in a saucepan over medium heat. Mix cornstarch with water to form a slurry, then stir it into the guava mixture. Cook until thickened, then let it cool slightly.

Step 5:
Poke small holes all over the cooled cake using a fork or skewer. Spread the guava filling evenly over the top, allowing it to seep slightly into the cake.

Step 6:
For the frosting, beat the cream cheese until smooth. Fold in the whipped topping, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until light and fluffy.

Step 7:
Spread the frosting evenly over the cake and refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving.

Notes

Allow the cake to cool fully before adding the guava topping and frosting to prevent melting. Chilling the cake before serving helps the flavors blend beautifully and creates a firmer texture for cleaner slices.
