Description
If you’re a true chocolate lover, Decadent Chocolate Cobbler is the dessert you’ve been dreaming of. This rich Southern classic is unlike any ordinary cake or brownie. As it bakes, a magical transformation takes place—the soft chocolate batter rises to the top while a silky, rich hot fudge sauce forms underneath. The result is a warm, gooey dessert that’s part cake, part pudding, and entirely irresistible.

Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Baking Dish
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
Grease an 8×8-inch or 9×9-inch baking dish with butter or nonstick spray.
Step 2: Mix the Dry Ingredients
In a large bowl combine:
- Flour
- Baking powder
- Salt
- Granulated sugar
- Cocoa powder
Whisk until evenly combined.
Step 3: Add the Wet Ingredients
Stir in:
- Milk
- Melted butter
- Vanilla extract
Mix until a smooth batter forms.
Do not overmix.
Step 4: Spread the Batter
Pour the batter evenly into the prepared baking dish.
Smooth the surface with a spatula.
Step 5: Prepare the Fudge Layer
In a separate bowl combine:
- Granulated sugar
- Brown sugar
- Cocoa powder
Mix thoroughly.
Sprinkle evenly over the batter.
Do not stir.
Step 6: Add the Hot Water
Carefully pour the hot water over the entire surface.
Do not stir.
The water may look unusual, but it creates the rich chocolate sauce while baking.
Step 7: Bake
Bake for 35–40 minutes, or until the top looks set and slightly cracked while the bottom remains gooey.
Avoid overbaking, as the fudgy sauce should stay soft.
Step 8: Cool and Serve
Allow the cobbler to rest for 10–15 minutes.
Serve warm by spooning the cake and hot fudge sauce into dessert bowls.
Top with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
