Crispy Malibu Chicken with Creamy Mustard Magic Recipe

For the Chicken

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • 1 1/2 cups breadcrumbs or panko breadcrumbs
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons butter

For the Topping

  • 8 slices deli ham
  • 8 slices Swiss cheese or mozzarella cheese

For the Creamy Mustard Magic Sauce

 

  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Black pepper to taste

Instructions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 190°C (375°F). Lightly grease a baking dish or line a baking tray with parchment paper.

Step 2:

Place the chicken breasts between plastic wrap and pound them gently until they are even in thickness. This helps the chicken cook evenly and stay tender.

Step 3:

Prepare three shallow bowls. Add flour to the first bowl. In the second bowl, whisk together eggs and milk. In the third bowl, combine breadcrumbs, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper.

Step 4:

Dredge each chicken breast first in flour, then in the egg mixture, and finally coat thoroughly in the breadcrumb mixture.

Step 5:

Heat olive oil and butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Cook the chicken for about 3–4 minutes per side until golden brown and crispy.

Step 6:

Transfer the chicken to the prepared baking dish. Top each chicken breast with slices of ham followed by Swiss cheese.

Step 7:

Bake for 10–15 minutes until the chicken is fully cooked and the cheese becomes melted and bubbly.

Step 8:

While the chicken bakes, prepare the creamy mustard sauce by whisking together mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, yellow mustard, honey, lemon juice, garlic powder, and black pepper in a bowl until smooth.

Step 9:

 

Remove the chicken from the oven and drizzle generously with the creamy mustard magic sauce before serving.

Notes

For the crispiest chicken, avoid overcrowding the skillet while browning the chicken. Cooking in batches allows the coating to crisp properly.

 

Using panko breadcrumbs instead of traditional breadcrumbs creates extra crunch and a more restaurant-style texture.
