Description

Banana Bread Brownies are the perfect combination of two beloved homemade treats: classic banana bread and soft, cake-like brownies. These incredibly moist dessert bars are packed with ripe banana flavor, baked until perfectly golden, and finished with a rich brown butter frosting that takes them to an entirely new level of deliciousness.


Ingredients

Step 1: Prepare the Oven

Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).

Grease a 9×13-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper.


Step 2: Mix the Wet Ingredients

In a large bowl beat together:

  • Sugar
  • Sour cream
  • Butter
  • Eggs

until smooth.

Mix in:

  • Vanilla extract
  • Mashed bananas

Step 3: Add the Dry Ingredients

Whisk together:

  • Flour
  • Baking soda
  • Salt

Gradually fold into the banana mixture.

Mix only until combined.

If using, fold in nuts or white chocolate chips.


Step 4: Bake

Spread the batter evenly into the prepared pan.

Bake for 22–28 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Do not overbake.


Step 5: Brown the Butter

While the bars are baking, melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat.

Continue cooking until it turns golden brown and develops a nutty aroma.

Remove from heat immediately.


Step 6: Make the Frosting

Whisk together:

  • Brown butter
  • Powdered sugar
  • Vanilla
  • Milk
  • Salt

until smooth and spreadable.

Add more milk if needed.


Step 7: Frost the Brownies

Spread the frosting over the warm brownies.

Allow the frosting to set for about 20 minutes.


Step 8: Slice and Serve

Cut into squares.

Serve warm or at room temperature.
