White Trash Snack Mix – Sweet, Salty & Addictive Party Treat

  • Author: amys recipes

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 cups crispy rice cereal or corn cereal squares

  • 4 cups mini pretzels (twists or sticks)

  • 2 cups roasted peanuts or mixed nuts

  • 2 cups candy-coated chocolates (or chocolate chips)

  • 24 oz white chocolate chips or white almond bark

  • Optional add-ins:

    • Mini marshmallows

    • M&M-style candies

    • Holiday sprinkles

    • Dried cranberries

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Mixing Bowl

In a very large bowl, combine the cereal, pretzels, nuts, and candies. Gently toss to evenly distribute all ingredients.

Step 2: Melt the White Chocolate

Place white chocolate chips or almond bark in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring between each, until completely melted and smooth.

Step 3: Pour the Chocolate

Carefully pour the melted white chocolate over the snack mix. Work slowly to ensure even coating.

Step 4: Gently Mix

Using a spatula, gently fold the mixture until everything is evenly coated. Be careful not to crush the cereal or pretzels.

Step 5: Spread to Set

Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper. Spread the coated snack mix in an even layer.

Step 6: Add Decorations

If using sprinkles or extra candies, sprinkle them on top before the chocolate sets.

Step 7: Cool Completely

Allow the snack mix to cool at room temperature for about 30–45 minutes, or place in the refrigerator for faster setting.

Step 8: Break Apart

Once fully set, break the mix into clusters or pieces.

Notes

  • Use high-quality white chocolate for smooth melting.

  • Avoid overheating chocolate—it can seize.

  • Stir gently to prevent crushing ingredients.

  • Let fully set before storing to avoid sticking.
