Orange Dreamsicle Salad (Creamy No-Bake Retro Dessert)

  • 1 (3 oz) box orange gelatin

  • 1 cup boiling water

  • 1 (3.4 oz) box instant vanilla pudding mix

  • 1 cup cold milk

  • 1 (15 oz) can mandarin oranges, drained

  • 1 cup mini marshmallows

  • 8 oz whipped topping (Cool Whip), thawed

  • 1 cup small-curd cottage cheese (or softened cream cheese for a smoother version)


Instructions

Step 1: Dissolve the Gelatin

In a large mixing bowl, pour boiling water over the orange gelatin. Stir until the gelatin is completely dissolved. Allow the mixture to cool slightly, about 5 minutes.

Step 2: Add the Pudding Mix

Whisk the instant vanilla pudding mix directly into the warm gelatin mixture. Stir until smooth and thickened. Let sit for a few minutes to begin setting.

Step 3: Mix in the Creamy Ingredients

Whisk in the cold milk until fully combined. Add the cottage cheese (or cream cheese) and mix until smooth and evenly incorporated.

Step 4: Fold in the Add-Ins

Gently fold in the drained mandarin oranges and mini marshmallows, making sure they are evenly distributed throughout the mixture.

Step 5: Add Whipped Topping and Chill

 

Fold in the whipped topping until light and fluffy. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, preferably longer, to allow flavors to meld and the salad to fully set.

Notes

  • Make sure gelatin cools slightly before adding pudding to prevent clumping.

  • Drain fruit thoroughly to avoid excess liquid.

  • Fold gently to keep the salad light and fluffy.

 

  • Chill time is essential for best texture and flavor.
