Ingredients
-
2 pounds beef sirloin steak or chuck steak, cut into bite-sized cubes
-
4 tablespoons unsalted butter, sliced
-
4 cloves garlic, minced
-
1 cup beef broth
-
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
-
1 teaspoon onion powder
-
1 teaspoon paprika
-
½ teaspoon black pepper
-
½ teaspoon salt (adjust to taste)
-
1 teaspoon dried parsley or Italian seasoning
-
1 tablespoon cornstarch + 2 tablespoons water (optional, for thickening)
-
Optional garnish: fresh parsley
Instructions
Cut the steak into evenly sized bite-sized pieces. Pat dry with paper towels and season lightly with salt and black pepper.
Place the steak bites in the bottom of the crockpot in an even layer.
In a small bowl, mix beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, garlic, onion powder, paprika, and dried parsley. Pour the mixture over the steak bites.
Place butter slices evenly over the top of the steak. Cover and cook on LOW for 5–6 hours or HIGH for 3–4 hours, until the beef is tender.
If a thicker sauce is desired, stir in the cornstarch slurry during the last 30 minutes of cooking. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
Notes
Do not over-stir the steak bites while cooking. Letting them cook undisturbed helps retain moisture and prevents the beef from becoming tough.
