Ingredients
For the Cake:
- 2 ripe bananas (mashed + extra slices for topping)
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter (softened)
- 3 large eggs
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
For the Caramel Sauce:
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1/4 cup heavy cream or milk
For the Creamy Glaze:
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2–3 tablespoons milk
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 175°C (350°F). Grease and line a baking pan.
In a large bowl, beat butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in mashed bananas and vanilla extract.
In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with milk. Mix until smooth but do not overmix.
Pour batter into the prepared pan and bake for 40–45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
In a saucepan, melt butter and brown sugar over medium heat. Add cream and stir until smooth and slightly thickened.
While the cake is warm, poke small holes and pour the caramel sauce over it, allowing it to soak in.
Mix powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth.
Drizzle the glaze over the cake and top with fresh banana slices.
Notes
- Use very ripe bananas for the best sweetness and flavor.
- Do not overbake to keep the cake moist.
