Apple Pie Bubble Up (Easy Biscuit Dessert with Cinnamon Apples)

  • Author: amys recipes

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cans refrigerated biscuit dough (homestyle or buttermilk)

  • 2 cans (21 oz each) apple pie filling

  • ½ cup granulated sugar

  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

  • ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg

  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted

Optional Glaze

  • 1 cup powdered sugar

  • 23 tablespoons milk

  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

Step 1: Preheat and Prepare the Dish

Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with butter or nonstick spray.

Step 2: Cut the Biscuit Dough

Open the biscuit cans and cut each biscuit into quarters. Place the biscuit pieces evenly in the prepared baking dish.

Step 3: Add the Apple Filling

Spoon the apple pie filling over the biscuit pieces. Gently spread to distribute apples evenly, but do not stir aggressively.

Step 4: Add Sugar, Spice, and Butter

In a small bowl, mix granulated sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Sprinkle evenly over the apples and biscuits. Drizzle melted butter over the top.

Step 5: Bake Until Bubbly

Bake uncovered for 40–45 minutes, or until biscuits are cooked through and the top is golden and bubbling. Let rest for 10 minutes before glazing.

Notes

  • Use homestyle biscuits for best texture.

  • If the top browns too quickly, tent loosely with foil.

  • Let rest before serving so the sauce thickens slightly.

  • Check center biscuits to ensure they’re fully baked.
